Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has acquired text-to-video startup Hotshot, which was founded in 2023 and developed three video generation AI models including Hotshot-XL, Hotshot Act One, and Hotshot. The acquisition suggests xAI plans to build its own video generation model to compete with OpenAI’s Sora.
